Lead one of several political parties through fully simulated elections, where your decisions and policies affect the outcome! The economy is also simulated and will affect elections! Form a coalition government, write laws, pass a budget, respond to events, and more!
Democracy Simulator's flagship feature is it's intricately designed electoral and economic simulations, which respond to your decisions and policies! Each law you pass, budget you submit, and event you respond to will all affect the simulation! Economic policies will affect metrics like economic growth, which will in turn affect how voters feel about re-electing your party in the next election!
However, you won't be put into power immediately. Instead, you'll have to campaign for the premiership and form a coalition government with other parties! Keep your partners happy or they might propose a vote of no confidence and remove you from power! In a few years, you'll have to defend your majority in another election, with no guarantee of success. If you lose, though, you may still be invited to join the government. If you have enough seats, you can even play kingmaker and help decide who becomes Prime Minister! If not, perhaps you'll plot your comeback from the opposition benches...
Any party with at least one seat can propose legislation. Many laws can be customized with various options and up to 3 can be packaged into a single bill to get other parties to back something you want in exchange for something they want! Laws require a majority to pass, which means you'll often rely on other parties. Once adopted, laws will have effects on the simulation, including electoral boosts or penalties, economic ramifications, and more! Like in real life, you'll have to balance the trade offs and determine what the effects are by watching economic and political metrics.
Occasionally, events will occur that you'll need to respond to. Usually, the Prime Minister is the one calling the shots. You'll be presented with a few options and must decide on one of them. Your choice will affect the simulation and if you pledge to change a law, the voters will remember whether you fulfilled your promise! Democracy Simulator doesn't hold your hand and tell you which option is the most optimal, so you'll have to make your own decision with the information available to you.
The vanilla base game has 2 decades of story events that will drive the narrative and impact the simulation! Economic recessions, geopolitical schenanigans, and political shakeups will ensue! In some cases, you'll be able to affect the story. Some events will appear at random, but the chance may be affected by certain conditions, like legislation or the economy. Others will always occur if their conditions are met.
Do you want to lead your country to prosperity, bask in the chaos, or just see what would happen? A simulated world awaits!
