Command the battle line in a real-time medieval roguelite. Issue Advance, Defend, and Retreat orders, build formations and tactics, manage morale and losses, and choose risky routes to the final battle.
You are not a lone warrior. You command the entire battle line.
WHEN ARMIES WAVER is a medieval strategy roguelite where morale can turn a steady formation into a rout.
Advance when the enemy begins to waver. Defend to absorb an incoming charge. Retreat to recover morale and rebuild your formation. Instead of controlling individual soldiers, you read battlefield pressure, morale, formation, and attrition—then issue orders to the army as a whole.
READ THE LINE AND GIVE THE ORDER
Switch between Advance, Defend, and Retreat as the battle develops. Commit to an All-Out Charge when the enemy line weakens, hold your ground under pressure, or withdraw before your formation collapses.
Choosing the right order matters. Choosing the right moment matters even more.
BUILD YOUR COMMAND
After each victory, choose one of three reward cards.
• Formations define the structure and basic fighting style of your army.
• Orders temporarily reinforce actions such as advancing, defending, or retreating.
• Stratagems provide special tools such as arrow volleys, smoke screens, and morale recovery.
• Doctrines grant persistent bonuses while equipped.
In the War Room, combine formations, front- and rear-rank troops, orders, stratagems, and doctrines. The same army can become a durable defensive line, a mobile force, or an aggressive breakthrough formation depending on your loadout.
CHOOSE YOUR ROUTE
Between battles, choose the next connected route on the campaign map. Standard battles, elite forces, supplies, rewards, events, and the final enemy offer different risks and returns.
Upgrade your scouting capabilities to reveal more of the road ahead and obtain better intelligence about enemy troops, formations, orders, and stratagems.
MANAGE ATTRITION
Soldiers lost in battle must be replaced from your reserves. If your reserves run dry, later battles begin with an understrength army.
Winning one battle is not enough. Preserve your forces, acquire new cards, reorganize your army, and break through the enemy’s final line.
