Keep, reroll, convert, and assign an expanding dice pool across six houses to forge attacks, raise defenses, gather resources, and unlock increasingly powerful abilities.
But victory in combat is not enough. Each monster brings a unique form of attrition that threatens the city itself. Balance immediate survival against long-term growth, build a powerful dice engine, and endure a procession of escalating horrors before everything you protect falls into decay.
Tactical dice placement with meaningful keep, reroll, and conversion choices
A shared economy where every roll shapes both combat and city survival
Organic progression through extra dice, rerolls, conversions, and Hero upgrades
Distinct enemies with city-damaging attrition effects
Dark medieval horror atmosphere and compact, replayable runs
Die and Decay is a dice-placement strategy game about defeating a sequence of enemies while keeping both your hero and city alive.
Dice placed together produce increasing rewards. Resources strengthen combat, unlock more dice, rerolls and Transmute actions, or improve future starting stats. Surviving enemies attack the city through Attrition.
Roll your dice, keep useful results, and reroll the rest. Place matching dice into an open (empty) house that accepts their symbol; stacked dice produce +1, +2, +3, then +4. After placement, houses generate resources and combat values, and combat resolves automatically.
The dice decay each round so the highest die is removed - and a house is locked as long as there are dice remaining in the house!
Build your engine, protect the city’s three lifelines, unlock upgrades, and defeat every enemy to finally stand up to the Pale Sovereign (yeah that's the boss!)
