Build your own mining company in the coal region of Grubental! Construct your colliery above ground, descend into procedurally generated depths, and operate over 15 heavy machines. Master mine statics, infrastructure, complex transport networks, and sell your coal on dynamic markets.
In BERGWERK – A Mining Sim, you design your own mining company in the fictional German coal region of Grubental. Acquire new land, plan your site layout in top-down view, and construct headframes, storage facilities, and processing plants according to your own ideas. What starts as a small colliery expands, step by step, above and below ground, through your decisions.
Advance shaft by shaft into multi-level mines, where every level is procedurally generated with dynamic coal seams. Master mine statics: place supports strategically to withstand the simulated load distribution. Keep vital infrastructure in balance – manage the power supply, pump out incoming mine water, ensure ventilation, and handle gas and dust management.
Extract coal seams completely freely, without grid constraints. Use realistic mining methods such as longwall or room-and-pillar mining, and drive your tunnels forward with the right tool – from manual work with a pickaxe and explosives to the deployment of massive shearer loaders. Take the wheel of over 15 drivable heavy machines yourself: maneuver mine trains through narrow tunnels, operate shaft hoists, or drive the licensed MAN TGX above ground.
Bring your yields to the surface with maximum efficiency! Plan and connect your own transport networks made of conveyor belts, skip hoists, rail systems, and trucks. Respond to fluctuating coal prices on the market, take out loans for investments, and steadily expand your mine to lead your mining company to economic success!
Authentic Coal Mining
Realistic cycle from exploration to extraction to processing
Two mining methods: longwall mining for long seam lines, room-and-pillar mining for targeted extraction
Tool progression: from pickaxe and explosives to the heavy-duty shearer loader
Every level procedurally generated with its own coal quality and quantity
Underground Mining & Infrastructure
Freely placeable galleries, crosscuts, and shafts, connected by hoists
Simulated load distribution: unsecured tunnels can collapse
Four systems working together: power, water management, ventilation, gas and dust management
Warning systems for critical values, enabling timely intervention
Logistics, Vehicles & Fleet
Over 15 drivable machines, from the mine car to the licensed MAN TGX
Freely combinable transport chains made of conveyor belts, mine trains, and skip hoists
Buy used or new, affecting cost and reliability
Wear and breakdowns require planned maintenance windows
Colliery Planning & Economy
Top-down construction planning for terrain, headframes, storage facilities, and processing plants
Dynamic coal market with fluctuating prices
Loan system for investments in expansion, machinery, and infrastructure
