About
### Ride Out. Cause Trouble. Ride Home.
**Tumblefire** is a Wild West action game about going somewhere and making a mess of it. Pick a town off the map, ride out, and do as you please — rob the bank, burn the saloon, rustle a wagon, or wander in with no job at all just to see how much of the place is still standing when you leave.
Because that's the thing: **you don't need a contract, and nothing is taken from you for leaving.** The stagecoach at the edge of town is a ride home, not an exit you have to fight your way to. Take it when you're done. Whatever you did gets tallied and graded on the way back.
Play solo, or bring one friend. They can join from your Steam friends list, or you can flip your session public and let someone find you.
### Everyone Is a Cactus
You're a saguaro in a poncho. So is the sheriff, the bandit, and the poor soul running the general store. It's a town full of cactus people going about their business until you turn up with a box of matches.
### Fire Is the Mechanic
Every ride is different because of fire. A match struck as a distraction can take a whole block by the time you reach the vault. Wind pushes flames across the street. Embers start fires you didn't plan. What began as a controlled burn becomes the reason you're leaving in a hurry.
Fire is a tool. Fire is a hazard. Usually both at once.
### Key Features
**🔥 Fire That Actually Spreads**
- A volumetric fire simulation, not a scripted effect
- Wind direction and material decide where it goes; wet things resist
- Smoke columns, ember propagation, char, and buildings that come down
- A tactical tool, or a thing that gets away from you completely
**🏚️ Buildings You Can Walk Into and Take Apart**
- Doors swing open when you walk into them; windows have glass, and glass breaks
- Every part but the floor can be shot apart — a wall takes about four revolver rounds
- Or just burn it down and take what falls out
- Nine building types, all hand-placed
**🏘️ Four Handcrafted Towns**
- **Dust Creek** — flat frontier main street, a bank worth robbing, an airship moored overhead
- **Copper Ridge** — a mining town cut into a canyon wall; leave by mine cart
- **Stillwater Crossing** — a river town split by a bridge, respectable on one side and distinctly not on the other
- **Brimstone Station** — a moving train. Start at the caboose, fight forward.
- No procedural generation. Every building, patrol and stash placed on purpose.
**🐎 Horses, Wagons, and an Airship**
- Ride a horse, and shoot from the saddle
- Drive a two-horse wagon team
- Board and pilot an airship
**🤠 Factions That React**
- **Sheriffs** — the law, and they escalate
- **Bandits** — hostile to you *and* to the townsfolk
- **Citizens** — neutral, unarmed, and inclined to run from fire
- Sheriffs and Bandits fight each other without your help. Use it.
- Armed NPCs will go pick up loose loot, so a rich one is worth chasing
**🎯 Stealth System**
- Line-of-sight detection, noise radius, alert levels
- Go silent for a big score bonus — or go loud and live with it
- Both are designed to feel good
**🔫 An Arsenal, Anchored by Four**
- The core four: Revolver, Dynamite, Matches, Incendiary
- Plus a growing spread: Shotgun, Rifle, Bow and Fire Arrows, Throwing Knives, Lasso, Smoke Bombs, Molotov, and a Hammer for going through a wall quietly
- Pick the four you carry at the hideout weapon locker before you ride out
**🌲 Skill Trees and Weapon Upgrades**
- Four skill trees — Ghost, Arsonist, Gunslinger, Outlaw — 36 skills between them
- Spend money on per-weapon damage, fire rate and reload tiers at the locker
- Trees make you better; tiers make a specific gun better
**🏠 The Warren — Your Hideout**
- Take a job from Mission Mary, or don't
- Set your loadout and buy upgrades at the weapon locker
- Spend earnings with the skill specialists
- Browse achievements on the notice board and career records at the vault case
- Practise on the range: scored targets, an ammo crate, and straw bales to set alight
- Manage your co-op session at the telegraph post
- The hideout is a place to plan, not a thing you upgrade
**🤝 Co-op for Two**
- Bring one friend in from your Steam friends list
- They join at the hideout or drop into a ride already in progress
- Or flip the session public, and let players find you in Browse Sessions — LAN too, or share a session code
- Towns get busier with two guns in them
- Share the town; split the take
**🎮 Every Ride Gets Graded**
- Money earned, chaos caused, time in town
- Playstyle bonuses stack: Ghost (no detections), Chaos, Opportunist, Speed
- Free-roam rides are scored too, on the mess you made
- Leaderboards per town
